Existing Market: The people I interviewed say I should market to people who are not vegetarian but advertise as a health food place to people who work out and are trying to lose weight. New Market: For my new market, I interviewed big meat-eaters. People who practically live on meat and are not huge fans of vegetables. In the interviews I did, people mostly told me the same thing. That I should make things that look and taste like meat or to make dishes where meat isn’t missed. Their biggest concern about my restaurant was that the dishes would not be big enough to fill them or it would be based on vegetables. Conclusion: These interviews taught me that I really need to appeal to people who do not like vegetables and prefer to eat meat based meals. This was not surprising to me because most people are not familiar with plant based meals and believe most vegetarians live on grass and tofu. I don’t think there would be any problem to make dishes that were satisfying t...

Venture Concept No. 1/ 24A Veg Cafe

Opportunity: There are many changed happening in our society. One major change is the spread of veganism. More and more people are going vegan or vegetarian. Studies are showing the health benefits and more people are becoming aware of the abuse in the animal agriculture industry. This has made the trend more common and vegan products and restaurants are popping up left and right. Another trend I have noticed is the fast expansion of my home town Ocala, Florida. We are growing from a small town into a large city very quickly. With these two trends moving rapidly, it is a matter of time for a vegetarian restaurant to appear in Ocala. As of now, there are little options for vegans or vegetarians so any “treats” are up to the person to create themselves. The first investor to open a vegetarian restaurant in Ocala will definitely be successful as they will have all of the business of vegetarians and non-vegetarians in Ocala. Innovation: My restaurant will be a classy, upscale plac...

Your Venture’s Unfair Advantage/ 23A

1) Professional chef's- I have lots of friends who want to work for me or teach me cooking techniques for my restaurant. 2) Coordination skills- From the experience I have in my job, I know for an absolute fact that having coordination and planning skills is not an easy thing to teach. There are not many people that can take the stress and have the organization skills to execute a project from start to finish. 3) Vegan community- Having friends who are vegan and vegetarian give me a great network to build business. 4) Business Degree- Having a degree in business makes me more knowledgeable and likely to get business loans from investors or partners. 5) Creativity- I am very creative and can draw, design, etc. This gives me the capabilities to create my own artwork and designs for my restaurant. 6) Member of animal rescue groups- This is another asset that would give my business an advantage by networking with many people who care about animals (who are likely vegetarian...

The feedback I received last time where mostly positive. I think students in this class kind of relate to each other on this assignment so no one was too harsh with their feedback. Doing this assignment over and over again is kind of annoying so nothing has changed.

Cognitive Surplus: How Technology Makes Consumers into Collaborators By: Clay Shirky 1)       What was the general theme or argument of the book? The general topic of the book was about how social media effects society. More specifically he writes about cognitive surplus which describes the free time that people have to use different media platforms. 2)        How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003? I really enjoyed this book because it really spoke a lot about what I’ve Iearned in my other technology class I am taking. I knew most of the terms and it was very closely related to topics we’ve discussed about social media. For ENT I think this book was good with relating to the entrepreneur because it discusses how businesses can take advantage of this social media age and explains that companies can use “cognitive surplus” to their advantage to engage with their customers...

Growing Your Social Capital/ 20A

1)       Robert & Michelle Who they are and what their background is: Robert and Michelle are both from central Florida but they have family all over the world. From Michelle’s family in the Philippines, to Robert’s family in South America, they have a great culture variety in their background. They have traveled to these places their whole life and have had many opportunities to learn and live in different cultures. Which 'slot' you are filling with this person and how the person fills the spot: Robert and Michelle are my domain experts because they have a small Asian market/café here in Ocala. They have several vegetarian options and they do an amazing job at offering authentic Asian food to people here in Ocala and kind of push people to try things out of their comfort zones. This is something I really hope to do at my restaurant. A description of how you found the person and contacted the person: They are the owners of one of my favorite places...
