My Entrepreneurship Story/ 3A


My first office job was working for an entrepreneur. I was hired as an Administrative Assistant performing duties for my boss’s four businesses which were all real estate related. She initially hired me to help her start a new business that bought, renovated and sold houses. A great learning experience for me was when my boss purchased a program that taught realtors how to “flip” houses (while using investor’s money). I listened to every webinar, took each tutorial and chatted with all of the coaches. From the operations manual to the logo, I had a major part in creating the company. Throughout my career, I greatly enhanced each one of my boss’s businesses by updating websites, forming processes and systems, and designing marketing material. I learned a lot during those three years and the experience helped me get my current job where I make more money!

                
            Before college, I was very interested in making art. Everyone thought I should go to school for some artistic field. I enrolled in college as a business major, because I realized I knew how to make art. I needed to learn how to sell art. Improving a technique is something anyone can teach themselves with YouTube and practice, but selling is what pays the light bill. When taking classes like ENT3003 I tend to gain more confidence in myself (which is important for selling yourself as an artists). In this class I hope to learn more about risk taking and creating a fan base.

  1. This is pretty awesome. Thats a lot of confidence to have in your artistic abilities and to look at the business aspect of it, pretty awesome. I would have to agree with Amber though that is a great decision to study business so you can make a great living off of what you love to do and there can't be that many things better than that. Great work and maybe I can purchase one of your pieces!
