Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends/ 6A

Regulatory Changes: Animal Welfare: Procedures for Applying for Licenses and Renewals
This regulation opens up opportunities for good people who really care about animals to operate legally in a cheaper and more efficient want and prevents people with bad history from working with animals. The customer who will benefit from this opportunity are the good people who genuinely care about animals. The new regulation would be easy to exploit because the regulation itself opens up opportunity for people running businesses to run legally, easier.
This opportunity stuck out to me because I am one of those people who is passionate about caring for the wellbeing of animals. It disgusts me to hear about people who have history of mistreating animals working in a job that puts them around animals. I believe this will make working with animals extremely difficult for people who do not hold licenses and it will ease the jobs and costs of operating for the better people with good intentions.

Regulatory Changes: Fisheries of Northeastern United States; Golden Tilefish Fishery; 2018 and Projected 2019-2020 Specifications
This regulation allows opportunity for an improved environment. It will prevent over fishing in certain areas and provide a better maintained schedule to allow a balanced and healthy environment. The customers in this case would be people who gain from the waters not being “over fished” there will be more abundance and life in our waters and anyone who enjoys the outdoors will appreciate this regulation.  I believe this proposed regulation is the result of exploitation. People use and take as much as they can get away with until there is nothing left. This rule will prevent others from taking advantage to what belongs to everyone (nature).
I chose to discuss this opportunity because I care about the health of the environment. It is sad to see lakes just die and waters become lifeless because of humans. We should be doing everything we can to prevent over fishing, hunting, pollution, etc.

Economic Trends: Unemployment rates in August drop throughout region
The dropping unemployment rate creates opportunity for more skilled people to score jobs. A low employment rate means more people are being hired and there are bigger stakes for those who are seeking new careers. Companies are going to hire the most qualified applicant and the ones who are under qualified will be left at the bottom of the barrel. This is only my opinion, but my outlook is that companies may use this to lower wages and exploit workers who need a job but don’t have many options.
I chose this article people a low unemployment rate is a great economic trend to have! We are seeing our country improve and people want to work.

Economic Trends: U.S. consumer confidence index at five-month high: Conference Board
The increased consumer confidence means that more opportunity for small or growing businesses exists. More people are likely to invest and spend money confidently. This is good for investors, business owners, and consumers themselves. Prices will decrease as sales go up and more businesses will open further reducing unemployment as well.
This article goes well with the previous article discussed because I believe they influence each other. I’m proud when I see our country improving and this is a great outlook especially for young entrepreneurs like me!

  1. Hey! I also find the unemployment rate dropping to be very interesting. It is also very scary for people graduating college soon and looking to begin a new career. I also think that it would be a great idea to make it easier for those who loves animals to be able to work with them. That sounds like a great idea!
