Reading Reflection No. 1/ 13A

1. Coco Chanel's youth years surprised me the most to learn that she was raised in foster care. I most admire her creative way to see fashion in a different way that was not considered "fashionable" at that time. Her personality was the least impressive to me. She had a hard time showing her emotions and vulnerabilities. Her love life is what was usually in the center of her failures.

2. Her creative and daring ways are what has changed fashion forever and remains to be her biggest legacy. The way she used cheap fabrics and left over materials to make show stopping pieces is very admirable.

3. I guess the drama was the hardest thing to follow in this book and was a little boring to red through.

4. What are your thought on woman's fashion today? Would she still have perused fashion if she was living today?

5. I think her opinion of hard work is to stay up late and perfect pieces and scents. A lot of her hard work today would be consumer research and getting feedback from customers.

  1. Hey! I read about Coco Chanel as well. I also was not well aware of her childhood. It was funny that while I was reading the book that it mentioned how she tried to keep her childhood almost secret because she was embarrassed of it. That must have been why I did not know she grew up with so many obstacles. She really was a daring woman, and I love that about her. She was so powerful! I love stories like Coco Chanels.

  2. From what your saying it sounds like her youth left an impact her that lasted through the rest of her life. I think this might have been the root of her emotional problems which let to so much trouble in her love life. Personally I cant stand drama so that would have been absolutely terrible to read through in my opinion. Did this ruin the book for you or did you still enjoy it.

  3. It is interesting to read the story of CoCo Chanel, I worked for fashion brand start-up before, so the story was really in to me. Yeah the drama part was definitely boring, so I changed my assignment to Steve Jobs. It was not easy for me to understand those 'fashion' stuff but i could feel her emotions as well. Great job on your work!
