Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1/ 12A
Segment: I am
doing research for a vegetarian restaurant. I would like my restaurant to be a
popular lunch place in town so I decided to talk with people who look for
healthy options when choosing their lunch venue. My restaurant will cater to
both vegetarians and non-vegetarians so the people I interviewed were those who
didn’t have a preference for meat but loved veggies.
Interview #1
My first interview was with a business man who often takes
clients or partners to lunch. When he looks for restaurants to dine in,
environment is very important especially if they will be discussing business deals.
He also looks at places that were different and offered something more than
burgers and fries. One of his favorite lunch meals are tacos!
Interview #2
The next interview was with someone who is interested in
trying new things. She has recently found a new love for Korean food and has
been exposed to so many new dishes she has never tried before. Of course her
go-to venues for lunch are Asian places that serve noodles and edamame.
Interview #3
My last interview
likes eating wraps for lunch. When she’s at work, quickness is definitely something
she looks for. Ideally she likes to call ahead and swing in, pick up the order
and go back to work to eat. Eating a big heavy lunch usually puts her to sleep
at work, so anything lite and healthy is a perfect fit for her.
Conclusions: After
talking with people, I noticed that venue and easiness was an important thing.
Take-out will definitely need to be offered at my restaurant especially if we
are a popular lunch place.
I think you got really great feedback from your interviews. Personally I would have liked to have read about you interviewing a smaller segment. Talking to people looking for healthy food options when your a vegetarian restaurant covers almost your entire market. I think you should try to focus on a smaller segment of your market like, just business people taking clients to lunch, or just people getting lunch on their break. I think by narrowing down your focus you will be able to get an even better feel for exactly what customers want!
ReplyDeleteThe place I work at has a restaurant down the road that isn’t vegetarian but sells a ton of wraps and has the same kind of atmosphere it seems that you would like to have. It is always busy. I have noticed that people love going there on their lunch break. Personally, I do not think the food at the place is that great, but its atmosphere is so nice I do not mind going with coworkers. It attracts a lot of workers that need a fast lunch!
