Idea Napkin No. 2/ 19A
1) You.
(Me.)
My name is Brittany and I’m
a full-time employee and student. I am skilled and experienced in managing
large projects where I work with a team of people to achieve short-term and long-term
goals. I use my planning and organization skills to break apart large projects
into smaller tasks and then delegate work to the qualified people. I aspire to
use my skills to help create a better world for animals. Animal welfare is
something I am very passionate about and by opening a vegetarian restaurant, I
would be exposing people to healthy, flavorful and satisfying foods that don’t
require the exploitation of animals to create. If I owned a restaurant I would
use my management skills hire professionals to perform the day-to-day duties
while working to open more locations or working with other companies to improve
or ad products.
2) What
are you offering to customers?
My restaurant will offer
delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner meals that will impress any meat-eater. My
dishes will have great flavor that will encourage people to eat healthier and
show them that eating healthy versions of their favorite foods is possible
without sacrificing flavor. Customers will enjoy a clean atmosphere and dine in
large booths and tables set with fresh flowers and our free appetizers
consisting of pita chips and homemade hummus. We will also offer outdoor
seating over-looking the community garden where pets are always welcome.
3) Who
are you offering it to?
Vegetarian or not, everyone
will love the food at my restaurant. Anyone who enjoys hearty and filling
meals, and those who like trying something new, will dine with us. We will also
serve craft beer and wine making our location the perfect spot for after-work
drinks and appetizers.
4) Why
do they care?
People, (especially
vegetarians) will come to my restaurant because of the weaknesses in other
restaurants. Those weaknesses are unhealthy vegetarian options and bland
healthy options.
5) What
are your core competencies?
I will serve very healthy,
very flavorful dishes that never disappoint. It will also attract
non-vegetarians who want to try something different and not order your typical
sandwich with fries.
The weakest element of my
business concept is sticking out. In Ocala, there are literally no vegetarian
restaurants so locally, my restaurant would completely stick and be unique to
this area. However, once the business started growing, I would have trouble
standing out to other vegetarian restaurants and bakeries on a national
level.
Feedback: Most of the feedback I received was
positive and there weren’t many changes I made but I did emphasize more on the
taste of my dishes. Some of the feedback I got spoke about how sometimes
healthy food does not taste very good and I think that is a very common
assumption that should be eradicated. I also got some feedback on the marketing
of my restaurant. As I have mentioned before in previous posts, I think there
is a stigma with vegetarian restaurants and most meat eaters would rather go to
a burger type of place. But I think by advertising my restaurant for what it
is, good food with a nice environment, I will have success and kind of “trick”
meat eaters into trying our food without them even noticing it’s a vegetarian
place.
Hey Brittany! I think in general your idea will be very successful in Ocala because like you said there will not be much competition there. I think that if you focus on making your business great in Ocala that you will be able to carry your restaurant's name to the national level more easily. You could start with just growing the business within Florida then just keep it going. I think when you advertise your new restaurant to definitely include the free pita chips with hummus!
ReplyDeleteHey Brittany I really like your idea. Have you ever worked in the restaurant business, it is extremely difficult. If you have not then I believe this is your biggest weakness. You are definitely going to want to hire an experienced manager and chef to help you get your feet off the ground. Would you consider adding other items besides just vegetarian food to the menu. These items could be healthy and organic. I believe this might make your restaurant popular to a much wider audience.
ReplyDeleteHey Brittany, I like your ideas and concepts. I know it would be really hard to figure out the restaurant for vegetarian, but I'm sure you will make it. I like the thing you mentioned on what you care, people. Maybe it might look like general thing, cause every one cares about people, but they don't really mention and care about it! I love your ideas and post!
